While producing our media product I may not have learned as much about the technology behind creating it as my pears. This is mostly due to the fact I have previous experience in creating videos and using audio and video software to create reviews and short videos. That does not mean however I have not developed my skills in using said software and I have had to adapt my style of producing videos to accomidate having a team who helped me.

Featured above is an example of my previous works, the reason for this is it shows what I have created before and as such how far I have progressed. One major thing I have improved upon is my understanding and manipulation of audio through the use of audacity. I have learnt to alter voices to dsitort their original sound as well as boost the quality of audio I have recorded before hand. I have also improved overall voice quality by purchasing a new headset which has made a huge difference to audio quality. Audacity took me a while to grasp how to get the desired effects I wanted, but with the help of tutorials and guides I taught myself how to get good qualiaudio which am able to manipulate to meet what our group requires.

I have been making videos since around 2006, my program of choice is Nero, particulaly NeroVision 08 it is a reliable and comprehensive video editing software that allows a wide arange of sound/video options. It allows me to have multiple tracks for audio so I can overlay music and sound effects and it offers a wide variety of titles and effects to enhance the quality of the footage. Since I have been using this software for about 5 years it's rare I find something in it I don't understand. However when I was constructing our media product I had to change the usual way I put a video together. This is because I needed the ability to go back and edit the production at any stage, so instead of just having one project file I broke it down into 3 stages. The first stage was just the video with voice overs, this allowed me to add/delete and tweak and scene in the video as I saw fit. The second phase was adding music and other sound effects as well some of the visual flair, this allowed me to tinker with audio without having to be concerned with the composition of the video. The final phase was adding in the extra components such as the production company logo and anything else, this final stage just allowed me to touch up anything that was accessable in the other stages.

The final piece of software I have recently been playing around with and have vastly improved upon of the course of the construction is with CS4 After Effects. Intitaly I was only capable of simple stuff such as wipe titles and very basic effects. But I have been learning from my dad who is more accustomed with CS5 but has been teaching me how to create more complex effects like flame and smoke. After learning how to produce these more complex affects I applied them in our final video. I still have much to learn in regard to After Effects and I will continue to learn and apply these skills to future productions.
