Match on action occurs when an action that begins in one shot is continued or completed in the next. For example you see an external shot of a women opening a door, then in the next shot the camera is now inside looking down the hall watching the women walk in and close the door behind her. This filming technique shows continuty as each shot flows together while still changing the angle and orientation of the camera.
