Our media product is stuck in a very precarious situation, due to us being a small indie company it is difficult to attract large distributors. So that leaves us with the smaller independant distributors, however the problem comes in the fact that were an English studio but our film is set in American culture. This means it will have a very small audience in England when compared to the audience it could generate in America. This of course would put many Independant British distributors off because they will feel that the film will not have a wide enough audience and in turn cost them more to actually play it than what they earn back.
Because of this it would be logical to try and find an American distributor as there society will be more inclined to see an independant film about the American gangsters of old. Especially with our film noir art style it gives the movie a sense of being an artsy indie production which will draw people through word of mouth and the internet. The problem still comes from finding an American distributor that would get us off the ground, one that springs to mind would be Paramount Pictures. While it may seem a little big considering our circumstances we should not forget they took on Paranormal Activity which was a low budget film that relied on it's style and simplistic but effective look over big budget special effects. This matches our film perfectly and with the demographic for it already there I believe if we could convince them to invest in our product it would certainly draw our target audiance.
